Sharon Stone has bravely come forward to name the producer who allegedly pressured her into having sex with her Sliver co-star, Billy Baldwin, in order to improve his performance in the film.
In a candid interview on Spotify’s Louis Theroux Podcast, Stone identified the late Robert Evans as the individual behind the disturbing incident. Evans, a producer on the 1993 thriller Sliver, allegedly called Stone into his office and suggested that sleeping with Baldwin would enhance his performance on-screen.
Recalling the unsettling encounter, Stone described Evans boasting about his own past exploits and insinuating that she should follow suit with Baldwin. According to Stone, Evans believed that a sexual relationship between the co-stars would translate into on-screen chemistry and salvage the film.
Stone recounted feeling pressured and objectified by Evans, who dismissed her suggestions for other actors and insisted on casting Baldwin. She lamented the double standard in Hollywood, where male actors were judged solely on their talent while women were subjected to demeaning expectations.
Refusing to succumb to the coercion, Stone stood her ground and rejected Evans’ proposition. Despite facing subsequent advances from Baldwin, which she suspected were influenced by the producer, Stone remained resolute in her refusal.
Stone’s revelation sheds light on the pervasive culture of exploitation and sexism in the film industry, where women are often subjected to unacceptable demands in exchange for career opportunities. Her courage in speaking out against such misconduct is commendable and serves as a reminder of the importance of challenging power dynamics and advocating for equality in all spheres.
