Grammy-winning artist Tyla reveals plans to collaborate with Lisa (Blackpink)

On March 13th, Grammy-winning South African artist Tyla shared a video featuring K-pop idol Lisa (Blackpink) on her personal Instagram account. In the video, Tyla sings her newly released song “ART,” while K-pop star Lisa harmonizes along to the gentle melody.

The video quickly went viral on social media. K-pop fans have been eagerly speculating about the possibility of a collaboration between the two artists. Even the official account of The Recording Academy Grammy left a comment expressing that the world is eagerly anticipating the collaboration of the two artists.

Recently, in an interview with Reuters, when asked about plans to collaborate with Lisa, Tyla confirmed: “We have discussed composing a song together, so the collaboration plan is definitely in place.”

At the prestigious Grammy Awards 2024, held in February this year, 22-year-old South African singer-songwriter Tyla won the Outstanding African Music Performance award with her hit song “Water” – a track that made Tyla the first South African artist to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart since 1968, peaking at number 7.

Lisa is a member of the globally renowned K-pop girl group, Blackpink. Apart from Blackpink’s impressive records, Lisa also has an impressive solo career.

Lisa holds the most Guinness World Records for a solo K-pop artist, with 8 records: “First K-pop solo song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify” (for “Money”), “Fastest solo female K-pop artist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify,” “First album by a K-pop solo artist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify” (the album “LALISA”), “Most-viewed YouTube music video by a solo artist within 24 hours” (MV “LALISA”), “Most-viewed YouTube video by a solo K-pop artist within 24 hours” (MV “LALISA”), “First solo K-pop winner at the MTV Video Music Awards” (Best Kpop award), “First solo K-pop winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards” (Best Kpop award), and “Most-followed K-pop artist on Instagram.”

Lisa also has a solo track on the Billboard Hot 100, her hit song “Lalisa” peaking at number 84.

Earlier this February, Lisa announced the establishment of her own company, LLOUD, after not renewing her individual contract with YG Entertainment at the end of last year. Fans are eagerly anticipating Lisa’s new music productions following her departure from YG.
