The 25-year-old forward, long coveted by Real Madrid, appears poised to make the move. The Athletic reported on Friday that Mbappe addressed his PSG teammates, confirming his impending departure after informing the club of his decision. However, the announcement did not specify his destination upon contract expiry.
With his contract set to conclude at the end of June, Mbappe has been eligible to sign a pre-contract since the start of the year, indicating that one of the world’s premier players is likely to switch clubs this summer. Mbappe is expected to represent France in Euro 2024 and potentially the Summer Olympics in Paris.
Real Madrid’s pursuit of Mbappe has been ongoing, with the player reportedly having a verbal agreement to join them in 2022 before extending his PSG contract. However, this time feels different, especially considering Mbappe’s desire to participate in both the Euros and the Olympics.
