Falcón’s fatal crash occurred 448 kilometers into the second stage of the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia. Despite being airlifted to the hospital for urgent medical attention, the neurological damage resulting from the incident proved irreversible, leading to his untimely demise.
In a statement, Dakar Rally organizers expressed their profound sadness and extended their deepest condolences to Falcón’s family and friends.
Twin Trail Racing, Falcón’s team, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, stating, “Carles has left us.” The team acknowledged the irreparable neurological damage caused by a cardiorespiratory attack during the accident. Earlier reports had mentioned that Falcón was initially found unconscious and without a pulse but was successfully resuscitated by medical professionals.
A native of Tarragona, Spain, Falcón, described as a person always surrounded by motorbikes, had a profound love for the sport. He had previously completed the Dakar Rally in 2022.
Twin Trail Racing remembered Falcón as a cheerful individual, passionate about motorbikes, and highlighted his joy while fulfilling his dream of racing in the Dakar. Falcón, an IT engineer by profession, also served as a motorbike instructor and tour guide during his leisure time.
The team emphasized his positive influence, stating, “He taught with patience, energy, and happiness; he made everyone enjoy motorbikes.” As the Dakar Rally continues, the team requested privacy for the farewell events to be held in the coming days.
The Dakar Rally, renowned as one of the world’s most challenging endurance races, covers a distance of 7,891 kilometers in Saudi Arabia, with the 2024 edition concluding on January 19.
